Band of brothers ACE part 1

The advantage of using a first person narrator in telling a story is that it will provoke the audience’s emotion. This is because that when a first person narrator is telling the story we will be able to feel how the narrator feels by listening to his tone words used and his peace, If the narrator wants to let us understand something or convince us or maybe deliver us a message, it is very effective to use the 1^st person narrator in telling us the story. There is more audience narrator interaction with 1^st person narrator. And the audience will be able to understand much better about the different people’s characteristic, narrator’s attitude etc. And sometimes 1^st person narrator helps us to know more about the background of a certain event. For example in the band of brothers episode seven 6^th minute, Lipton told the audience why Hoobler wants the pistol so much when Hoobler killed the German officer and gets his luger pistol. This helps us to get a better understanding of the history of Hoobler. Another example is when lip telling the audience of buck changed after he got shot in Holland this is when we get to know more about buck and listen to Lipton’s viewpoint as well.

However 1^st person narrator also have disadvantage is some way. 1^st person narrator usually told us what he feels or what he have seen and experience, this is not very good as it sometimes have negative effect on the audience as they usually only gets part of the story. And the narrator’s personal viewpoint might be bias in some ways. For example when Lipton is telling the audience about Dike, we only listened to Lipton and his mate’s viewpoint but we do not know how Dike feels and thus we might have some negative feeling about Dike without understanding him and his difficulties.
