---------------------------------------------------------- Kinkakuji 金閣寺 (Kyoto) Entrance Fee: 400yen (1st time ok, subsequent time not worth) ---------------------------------------------------------- One of the most famous Buddhist temple in Kyoto, basically was bought by this Shogun in the 12th century who decided it was a fking good idea to coat it with gold, aft he died his son convert it to a temple. Tho in 1955 some suicidal monk burnt the actual temple to a crisp together with all the artifacts inside. The one we see today is mostly a replica (the owner coat it with even more gold to attract tourists lmao). ----------------------------------------------------------- Tho its one of the most famous attraction in Kyoto, its quite underwhelming imo. Because its full of fking Chinese tourists for some fking reason (maybe cos its Gold) totally ruin the experience. If the Chinese tourist at Kiyomizu is 20% then this place is 60%.
