Tho in 1955 some suicidal monk burnt the actual temple to a crisp together with all the artifacts inside. The one we see today is mostly a replica (the owner coat it with even more gold to attract tourists lmao). ----------------------------------------------------------- Tho its one of the most famous attraction in Kyoto, its quite underwhelming imo. Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Taisha Entrance Fee: Free ----------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most famous attraction in Kyoto and prolly the entire Japan, if you buy a set of kyoto postcards this is prolly the 1st in the set, and if you go scroll down you fb friends list 5% of them prolly have this place as their dp background as well. "Influencers" who travel Japan will prolly come this place take some nice shots and post it with some random Jap phrases. Japan has more than one thousand shrines that worship the Inari fox god and this is the HQ of all the Inari shrines.
